OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT

   1. To provide the finest opportunities and environment for teaching, and learning in various areas of plant sciences.

   2. To promote the self-employment of the students through various areas of plant sciences.

   3. To develop student skills about medicinal plants importance in research work.

    4. Provide the opportunities of higher education for upliftment and empowerment

VISION:

   The intent is to promote, instruct, and enable the coming generation of botanists, who will promote eco-friendly solutions for a more sustainable future.

MISSION:

   1. Developing competent and Field oriented botanists for the welfare of society.

   2. To promote plant conservation sustainability and environmental protection.

What is the need to study Botany?

   The increasing human populations, modern technology and industrial and agricultural practices are causing many environmental problems that are likely to become worse with time. Ultimately, man is dependent on plants for fresh air, food, fibber, medicine, building materials and aesthetic environments. Botanists can help the world to use plants in sustainable manner and to address many of these environmental problems.

Opportunities

   Careers in botany vary. Many botanists operate in pleasant environments, such as working in laboratories, going out on field expeditions etc. Many botanists get the opportunity to further their studies in a particular field of Botany and obtain Master or Doctorate degrees. It is furthermore possible to become part of a worldwide network of botanists and contribute towards a better quality of life.

Department of faculties and students visited Swamy Nursery, Hosur part of field survey on 01-02-2019. Students learned layering the concepts of Grafting and Bonsai Techniques.

VILLAGE AWARENESS PROGRAMME

The Department of Botany staff members Conducted the Clean Drive Called Swatch Bharath on 31/07/2018 in Ennegolpudhur Village of Krishnagiri district. The importance of cleanliness around was reinforced. Pamphlets were distributed tothe villagers.
